i've had issues with pubg mobile lately, mainly due to the ping,i'm quite positive my internet is not the issue especially since i can play other games and view youtube vids at high quality without an issue,Are the servers down? cuz it has become ridiculous at this point
Edit: ty for pointing out the download speed part, the issue has been solved on it's own, it just probably got more stable
Cannot play today. Either getting 100+ ping with WiFi connection, or getting stuck on loading screen with mobile internet without possibility to connect to the game.
You have to have an internet connection to play H3’s mobile game because they don’t want you to play the game without the ability to make in-app purchases.
want to play the free play game on your phone without the annoying adverts. Turn your WiFi/mobile data off whilst you play. The game cannot connect to the internet and the Ads won’t play, Karen.
want to play the free play game on your phone without the annoying adverts. Turn your WiFi/mobile data off whilst you play. The game cannot connect to the internet and the Ads won’t play, honey.
LPT: Most mobile games that pop up annoying advertisements require internet to load them. Pop into airplane mode to play without ads (or with fewer). - LifeProTips

CORSAIR EARNINGS PLAY, The DD you've been waiting for
Corsair Gaming ($CRSR) Redefining gaming, eSports, and streaming Company Overview Corsair Gaming is an American computer hardware and peripherals company founded in 1994 and headquartered in California. They acquired Elgato Gaming in 2018 to expand to the streaming gear market, Origin PC and SCUF gaming in 2019 to expand into the custom-built PC systems and console controllers markets, respectively, and during 2020 they acquired Gamer Sensei and EpocCam, and partnered with Pipeline to grow into the gaming and streaming coaching market. Corsair went public on September 23, 2020, with its IPO priced at $17, valuing the company at about $1.3B. Understanding the Business Value Proposition Corsair provides specialized, high-performance gear for gamers and streamers. Their products are designed to provide speed and reliability for competitive gaming, high quality content for streamers, and powerful PC components that allows gamers to run modern games smoothly. Revenue Streams Currently, Corsair groups its product offering into two segments: gamer and creator peripherals and gaming components and systems. Gamer and Creator Peripherals: which represents around 25% of net revenue, includes gaming mice, keyboards, and headsets, streaming gear, and high performance console controllers. Gaming Components Systems: which represents around 75% of net revenue includes computer cases, power supply units (PSU), high performance memory products (40% of net revenue), and custom-built gaming systems. Acquisitions and Partnerships: During 3Q 2020 Corsair acquired Gamer Sensei, a gaming coaching platform, EpocCam, an app that allows iPhones to serve as a webcam, and partnered with Pipeline, a course-based education platform for streamers. Industry Market Size According to Jon Peddie Research, the global gaming and streaming gear markets is expected to reach $40B by the end of 2020. Before the pandemic JPR estimated the market to grow at a modest 1.05% CAGR until 2022. However, during 2020 the market has grown an estimated 10% year-over-year. Additionally, DFC Intelligence research estimated that the video-game coaching market surpasses $1B. Industry Fundamentals Growth in the gaming and streaming gear industries are driven by strong and robust fundamentals. Popularity of gaming is increasing: According to Newzoo, there are an estimated 2.7B gamers worldwide, which are expected to spend $159B on games in 2020 and is expected to grow at an 8.3% CAGR to exceed $200B by 2023. PC and console gaming represents 51% of the total market, and mobile gaming 49%. Corsair has stated that currently there is no interest in expanding to the mobile gaming market. Tech-driven improvements in game quality: Advances in computer power have enabled gaming platforms to provide increasingly immersive experiences. This in turn, places increased demand on high-performance computing hardware. Increasing gaming and streaming engagement: Some interesting facts reported in the Limelight Networks’ State of Online Gaming 2019 research report include:
On average, video gamers spend six hours and 20 minutes each week playing video games
More than 38% of gamers would like to become professionals if it could support themselves
Gamers from novice to aspiring professionals report missing daily activities due to gaming, missed sleep is the most pervasive
Watching gamers play video games online is more popular than watching traditional sports for 18-25 year olds.
The eSports and streaming flywheel The rise in popularity and viewership of eSports brings more investment from publishers, sponsors, advertisers, team owners, and leagues to the eSports industry. Increased investment brings more players and increased performance focus of gamers who advance from less engaged gaming to high-performance gameplay, which in turn brings more viewers. Competitive Landscape & Risks Competition The gaming and streaming market is characterized by intense competition, constant price pressure and rapid change. Competition across Corsair’s product offering includes: Gaming keyboards and mice - Logitech and Razer Headsets and related audio products -Logitech, Razer, and HyperX Streaming gear - Logitech and AVerMedia Performance controllers - Microsoft and Logitech PSUs, cooling solutions, and computer cases - Cooler Master, NZXT, EVGA, Seasonic, and Thermaltake High performance memory - G.Skill, HyperX, and Micron Pre-built and custom-built gaming PCs - Alienware (Dell), Omen (HP), Asus, Razer, iBuypower and Cyberpower Competitive Strategy The company follows a differentiation leadership strategy by prioritizing high-performance and professional quality and charging a price premium on their products in exchange for superior quality, high value added features, and superior brand recognition. Market Share According to NPD Group, by 2020 Corsair had #1 market share position in the US in its gaming components and systems products with 42% of the market share from 26% in 2015. Their gamer and creator peripheral products are not yet market leaders, however, the company increased its market share in that segment from 5% in 2013 to 18% by 2020 in the US. Growth Strategy Move into the Asia Pacific region: The Asia Pacific Region represents a long-term growth opportunity. According to Newzoo, they represent 54% of the global gaming community. Complimentary acquisitions: Corsair has carried out this strategy aggressively since 2018 with the acquisitions of Elgato Gaming, Origin PC, SCUF and Gamer Sensei. They plan to continue evaluating and pursuing new acquisitions that may strengthen their competitive position. New Markets: Uses of streaming gear has spread into areas including, podcasting, video blogging, interactive fitness, remote learning, and work-from-home, which represent a promising avenue for continued expansion in this product segment. Threat of New Entrants Because of the continued convergence between the computing devices and consumer electronics markets, increased competition from well-established consumer electronics companies is expected in the gaming and streaming peripherals segment (e.g. use of Audio-technica microphones by streamers). Threat of Substitution A significant medium- to long-term risk for Corsair’s business model is the evolution of cloud computing and augmented/virtual reality entertainment. Cloud computing refers to a computing environment in which software is run on third-party servers and accessed by end users over the internet, requiring minimal processing power from the end-user’s system. Through cloud computing, gamers will be able to access and play sophisticated games without the need of expensive high-performance PC systems and components. According to Grand View Research, the global cloud gaming market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 48% from 2020 to reach $7.2B by 2027. Additionally, Corsair must be able to adapt its product offering to meet the needs of the evolving augmented/virtual reality industry. Moats There does not seem to be any relevant, structural moats, that may prohibit competitors from capturing Corsair’s market share across their product offering. Other Relevant Risks Due to the concentration of their production facilities in Taiwan and China, Corsair may be adversely by geopolitical tensions and trade disputes. I wanted to clear the air a little bit, especially with Mike leaving the channel he created. First off, this is the real Justin. I know there's been a lot of fake Screenwave people on here over the years, but... I think you'll tell from my post that it's me. It's going to be too inside-baseball to be faked. Plus, mod GreatBowser confirmed it in Twitter DM. I also wanted to do an AMA for a while, was going to do one on Facebook in that Assposting group... but they started contacting family members on my Facebook profile and stuff. So... I left all Cinemassacre fan groups I was in and locked my profile down. I feel that this subreddit is probably the best place for the AMA... since you guys clearly care about the channel a lot and wouldn't hold back any punches. I was on here a few years ago. But, I jumped ship pretty quickly and didn't really engage after that, or even lurk. I would get sent threads from time to time. Yet, over the years I noticed the Truth went from heavy trolling and hyperbole, to more shitposting and constructive criticism. That's something I can get behind. Plus, you guys aren't going away... and Screenwave isn't going away. So, I wanted to meet in the middle. I wanted to step out in front of a lot of your questions. Answer them for you. I am going to use the Megathread and newer top posts to pull questions from. (But, feel free to ask stuff below. I'll only be monitoring this thread the next week or so, if that's alright.) Lastly, I do not speak for James, Mike, Ryan, Screenwave Media, or the other guys... it's just how I see things, or what I know personally. Who owns Cinemassacre now? Screenwave Media? James owns it. I don't know the specifics after that or with the AVGN movie, but I know Screenwave Media owns 0% of any of it. We only have a stake in the AVGN games we produce. Yes, we take a percentage of monthly revenue, like we do other partners on the network... but we don't have any control of the Cinemassacre company... OR have any creative control. James can do whatever he wants with both. He decides to work with us, and we like working for him. So, do the Screenwave guys work for Cinemassacre or what? "The Slobs," as we are called (thanks for that) don't have any creative control or financial stake, as said before. We are just employees of Screenwave Media. Hell, Cinemassacre isn't even my full time thing here. I do a lot of producing of our games and social media content, plus direction for the company kinda stuff. Tony and Kieran are the only full-time employees at Screenwave working for Cinemassacre... and that is mostly writing, filming, and editing. Why wasn't there a better way to introduce "The Slobs"? That's the last time I'll call us the slobs, haha. Honestly, we probably should've introduced ourselves better. Mind you, we were working on the channel for a while at that point... and, when you're James or whatever, you're already really acquainted with us... so, when Tony slips into that Halloween 6 review or we start doing Rental Reviews, it doesn't really come to your mind to roll out the red carpet and send out flyers to everyone, because you assume people follow his socials where we're mentioned or at conventions or whatever... you just kinda do it... which, I don't think people would have cared too much about... if it wasn't for the departure of Kyle and Bootsy still stinging. What about Kyle and Bootsy then??? I started working for Screenwave in 2015... and on Cinemassacre in late 2017... so, I wasn't really there for the behind the scenes of Kyle and Bootsy. I met the guys a bunch beforehand though. I like the guys now too. You also know I did the stupid AVGN Roast in 2013... and I think I gave them that cake/award thing at TooManyGames the year before too... so, I knew Kyle and Bootsy well enough and we'd talk at after parties and whatever. Only saying that because I just want to put it out there that I don't harbor any animosity for them. None of us do. I'd like to work with them in the future if it's ever possible. Oh, and if you watch the Silvermania 2016 MAGfest video you'll see Bootsy. Really surprised none of you saw that yet... anyway... yeah, no idea why there was a falling out 100%. I know Kyle wanted to get more involved with his contracting company... and Mike and Bootsy had a falling out. Friends sometimes do, especially when they start working together and being in business together. All I know is what Mike posted publicly a while ago. Be cool to see them again one day regardless. Why did Mike leave? I think he was pretty clear about it in his reddit post. We were planning 2021 and I guess Mike was feeling disconnected for a while... and honestly, loves to stream on Twitch. So, it just made sense for him to bounce. All the old stuff he made is still there, and I guess there's some burnout mixed with enjoying his new thing. I don't blame him. Yes, James barely talked about it in the update video... but, Mike specifically didn't want a huge send off or too much said about it. So, James said as much as Mike wanted him too. That simple. What about all the Mike drama over the years? Same with the Kyle/Bootsy stuff. I wasn't around for it. I know as much as you know, maybe less. I think Mike has apologized for all of it... so, I am going to leave it there. I have no problems with Mike, he's always been good to me. Hoping to stream with him eventually from time to time or just hang out. Why doesn't James write the AVGN episodes anymore? Well, he does... and he doesn't. It's collaborative. Sometimes we play all the games together, sometimes just he does. Sometimes we'll come up with an outline for a script and he fills it in, sometimes it's the reverse. Sometimes he comes up with ideas for games, sometimes we do. It's so back and forth that I can't really separate it at this point... I understand they don't feel like stuff from back in the day... but, not much you can do about that. He's older, back in the GameTrailers day he had something to prove. I think the movie burned him out... plus his family life and side projects. It takes its toll, I think we were moving in a good direction but Covid kinda fucked stuff up, for all of us. Our goal is to make 2021 a great Nerd year. We have been working on the plan for a while now with more time to focus on writing, acting, all that. I think 2020 had us flying by the seat of our pants. I was editing stuff 24 hours straight sometime. Sorry if it doesn't seem that way, haha. We put a lot of time and effort into making what we can, but we want to improve and we want the content to improve. What's with all the brand deals and lack of cursing? As you know, YouTube is a minefield of demonetization, limited ads, and de-platforming. We're trying our best to make the channel money and keep views up. The brand deals really help, because a lot of our content gets limited ads, especially the older stuff. As you know, our backlog is huge. Cursing in the first minute is an instant limited ads. Which hurt money, sure, BUT it also makes the algorithm push you less. So, if a YKWBS gets limited ads it'll get half the views it would normally get, or less... so, we had to make these changes to stay afloat. Even the AVGN theme gets pinged... that's why a lot of AVGN episodes did worst this year (aside from whatever quality issues you have)... Bad Final Fight Games got limited ads because the Nerd said "blue balls," and that's too sexual. See what I mean? If we get hit, it kills views. So... we do brand deals, we put the theme after a minute, we changed it to BS in the front... if not, views would suffer, and future stuff would be pushed less and less. It's weird. Sure, we could do a Patreon and all that, but views would still suffer. And, we never want to just take your money... if skipping forward in a video is all you have to do, whatever. If you want to support us, merch is the best way to do that. And yes, James gets most of the profit from merch. It's not us running some scam. Why are the Screenwave guys such SLOBS?? (Oops, used it again.) I don't want to talk about how Ryan, Kieran, or Tony (from Hack the Movies) feel... but, I know Kieran really took a lot of the stuff here to heart. Especially after the years of fat jokes, caveman jokes, and people pretending to be his dead father. He went off the edge a few times. I think he's in a way better place now, and I think he's really been taking good care of himself. Shit, I lost 80 pounds this year but gained a lot of it back when the world started opening back up... that's the thing about being fat your whole life. It's hard to dig yourself out, it's easy to diet and exercise if you're already thinner. I was fat in like kindergarten, those habits and addictions just continue on with you. Plus, food has always been a comfort for me. Not to go into a sob story, but my Mom died in '99 because of drugs and stuff... and I grew up with 3 sisters across multiple states in a poor family... and, being teased your entire life just goes on and on. Honestly, if you're 20 pounds overweight or 200... it feels the same when you're ridiculed, so, what's the difference, just get bigger, you'll never be small enough to not catch shit. I mean, not to go into my psychology or whatever, sorry... BUT, my goal is to get healthy in 2021... it's a "rebuilding year" for me... that's a sports term. I mean, I doubt it'll affect my personality much... so, if that's your problem, then shit... but, clearly us slobs don't want to be slobs. Even Tony (from hack the movies) and Ryan have been working on themselves too... plus, I always put others before me... from work, to family, to my girlfriend... I'm usually the last stop. Any advice or whatever you guys wanna give, please do. My Twitter DMs are always open. Coat-tail riding MUCH?? I mean? Not really? Not sure how much fame we can get out of this. It's just our job, and we like helping James and shooting the shit on the internet. Plus, I had two failed YouTube shows before working with Cinemassacre (why the fuck did they hire me??) so, I don't really care about the clout. It's cool when people high-five us at conventions and other content creators give us the nod... but, we're just trying to make videos, build up Screenwave more, and keep James making the content he wants to make. That's it. I mean, hasn't really helped Hack the Movies much (LOL). What do you think of the AVGN movie? It's alright. I think it could be better here and there, but it's really hard to make a movie. Anyway, back when it was being planned... I was trying to get James to do it locally, with the Underbelly guys and people I knew into film. Do it cheap. But, I also understand wanting to make a big movie in Hollywood. That's a dream. Anyway, at the end of the day, I hope James gets to make another movie one day. I really liked his horror script, but clearly that's on the backburner if not cancelled... but, my goal is to get something to happen one day for him. Now I wanted to dive a bit into my past... Why do you defend Bob and still talk to him to this day? So, as you might know, Bob (who used to be on my old YouTube show Silvermania) was busted for having child porn several years ago, after we stopped working together anyway. He went to jail for a year and has since been off the grid. I don't talk to him anymore and I completely cut ties. I've talked about the matter before, saying he "did his time" and stuff. Which, I meant like... I don't want to dogpile on a guy whose life is completely ruined... and who already fucked up a ton. I wanted him to get the help he needs and never work with him again. But, as I said before, I haven't talked to him in years and I don't plan to. Why did you make fun of Total Biscuit's cancer? I regret everything that happened between Silvermania and TB. The short version, is we were invited on his podcast accidentally. They thought we were another show... my original show Underbelly, I think... which was a really different thing, and we were frustrated our YouTube network at the time (MakeTGS) didn't know the difference. Silvermania was me and my old roommate, who posted on here a few times as you know. They wouldn't let us on together and kept asking questions before the show about Underbelly and stuff that didn't pertain to us, but whatever. Watch it, it even says UnderbellyShow under my face. Things went south really quick... and honestly, I shouldn't have been a dickbag on the call... but, as I said, it was weird from the get-go. The energy was really off between all of us on the call, and I just played into being the bad guy. Anyway, we got kicked off the podcast halfway through and a wave of TB fans started attacking us for months. Now, there were like 5 people with access to the Silvermania YouTube at the time... plus I think mods and stuff. So, I'm not sure who did it. Hell, it could've been me under the influence. I drank way too much back then... anyway, someone made fun of TB's cancer down the road and it's been screen-grabbed and passed around. I mean, there's not too much context to it... aside from just being a shitty thing to say because we felt burned by the guy and his fans. Anyway, after that I met with him at a convention and we put it past us. He never actually saw the insult. I was really upset when I heard he passed, I always liked him and his content. Especially all the PC gaming stuff. Why did you post "I'm a pedo, watch out" on Twitter? AH, right. I know that sounds like foreshadowing about the Bob stuff, but it wasn't. Back then, I think it was 2013... I didn't really use Twitter much. We had the SilvermaniaShow handle... which connected directly to our Facebook fan page. So, if we posted on Facebook, it would auto-post to Twitter. Also back then, we would have huge parties at our apartment and stuff, like 50 people would show up once a month... a lot of friends and fans of the show too. Anyway, someone "hacked" our Facebook account... as in, went on the computer that was playing music, typed that in as a joke, and hit send. We immediately deleted it... but, we forgot it auto-posts to Twitter and forgot about it. Anyway, when the show ended... I changed the handle from SilvermaniaShow to JustySilverman, the one I am using now, making it my personal account. But, the wayback machine or whatever, just makes it look like my current profile said he's a pedo. That's the story. Someone was playing a joke, it went to Twitter, and we didn't realize it. I am not a pedo, but sadly, I worked with one for a while... well, kinda, Bob was kinda a guest on the show more than a member. Why did you make such shitty/troll content anyway back then? Man, it's been a real rollercoaster... if I knew back then what I know now... I think Underbelly or Silvermania would have made it... I let too many cooks in the kitchen, let friends have business control or creative whatever... I should've just been a solo act and just made fun shit... I mean, I think we did a lot of good stuff too... like, Underbelly was partnered with ScrewAttack and Normal Boots for a time... we were with the first ever YouTube network... but, all that pivoting fucked the channel up because of release schedules or what they wanted us to make... the production has always been good... Underbelly was the first YouTube channel with every video being in full 1080p back in 2010... but then we deleted every video and reuploaed them because our network needed us to for whatever reason... just a ton of issues... from back-end stuff to it not being fun anymore... to seeing others soar with similar content... it made me bitter. Which led to Silvermania becoming a weapon of trolling. I always skimmed the surface of making YouTube successful for me... hell, we pissed a LOT of content creators off too... I am STILL rebuilding those bridges even with being on Cinemassacre. I was just pissed off at the world and thought I knew better... when, we should've been focused on making fun stuff consistently and less toxic. That simple. Trying to do that now I guess. Why did you say the N-word? I really regret this. I mean, even without cancel culture and all that. It was just stupid. The one time was back in 2012, on YouTube, and was part of a skit where I was saying the N-word was actually "Nerd," because of the Big Bang Theory or some point I was making about Nerds being taken advantage of or whatever by Hollywood... it was a really dumb comparison. I even had my black roommate in the video with me to sell the joke... it was dumb, but edgy humor was cool at the time. I have since removed the video and apologized. The other time was just being a drunk-comedian with my friends trying to say the most fucked up stuff possible, same year. Kinda like when Kramer from Seinfeld did that dumb stand-up routine when he said it. But, I guess my ex-roommate decided to record it and post it this year for clout. That said... I am not a racist, I've never said anything remotely racist after the fact, and never from a place of hate. I'm a pretty liberal guy, not that it matters. But, I apologize, clearly won't ever happen again... and hasn't in 8 years. Why are you dressed as a Klansman next to Nazi and confederate flag? Whoops! Okay, this is a bad look. I can see this coupled with the N-word thing looking really bad... or being a Jewish guy next to a swastica. Clearly, this was a skit. The flags were from a WW2 and Civil War reenactment troop I knew, someone has to play the bad guys and their gear was really authentic. I don't own racist or facist flags. (Though, I kinda want a Mobile Infantry flag from Starship Troopers.) People share the photo around, but never notice the game collection behind me or the minture Hitler on my shoulder... it was a skit we filmed, but never fully released, and has since been taken down... it was part of our Lost Episodes clip-show. The joke was that I'm the "Racist Video Game Nerd," because everyone else on YouTube already picked all the names to sound more like AVGN. Like the Sad Video Game Nerd or whatever. So, the "RVGN" was going to review a game, then get thwarted by a group of racially diverse characters... so... just a stupid skit... that was never fully finished because we knew it was bad. Plus, the RVGN is the bad guy... he's shown in a negative light. Okay, I think that'll answer a bunch of questions you may have... so, yeah. AMA. Oh, and sorry if I blocked you on Twitter or whatever. I'll add you back if you want. [EDIT] I will get to EVERYONE'S QUESTIONS, there are just a ton and I like to work and sleep and eat and shit.

Huya is still growing strongly on its own with or without said merger.
31x 2020 forward earnings does not seem too expensive for a company currently showing strong growth in sales and earnings, while being the game live-streaming leader in China.

Just Hit GM on Support on PS4 for the First Time Playing Mostly Ana, Zen, Bap, and Lucio Solo Queueing and without being in Team Chat. Here to Give Some General Support Advice. (Part 1)
Background
If you don't care about all this and want to go straight to the advice you can skip to section 2. Hi guys, just wanted to share some insight on my road to grinding support to GM and to give some free advice for players wanting to improve. Here's the Proof that I hit GM if anybody was curious. Just wanted to start by saying that I started off in low gold on my main account back in season 9. I didn't hit Masters until season 16 where I was stuck around the 3.4k-3.6k range until I hit GM on tank in season 23. After that, I wanted to practice support and made a new account so I could start from the ground up and so I wouldn't ruin other people's games because my support was probably not at a high masters/low GM level yet. Overwatch is also the first FPS competitive game I took seriously. To help supplement my practice I watched coaching VOD reviews of Ana, Zen, and Bap and some unranked to GM VODs of people like ML7 and epicenzo. Then I would write down a couple of things that I needed to work on for each hero. I am by no means an amazing player, but through focused practice and time, I was able to hit GM on support. Hoping this post helps aspiring support players who feel stuck in their rank. I also chose to not be in team chat for most of games because I really just wanted to focus on my mechanics and decision making without having to listen to other people complain. My experience in ranked is that I don't hear actual useful callouts until mid to high masters, but even at that rank I still didn't join voice. If you're hardcore, "you must be in voice chat, it's a team game!" kind of person then...I'm sorry?
1 - Controls and Settings for Console
If you are a PC player you can skip this section. Make sure to have all allied health bars on! This will show the HP of teammates at all times and is a very useful piece of information for all support players. It will help dictate healing priorities and who needs healing certain situtations. I'm sure some of you are curious about the specific console settings I use because it can be confusing. Here is a video explaining the differences between all the settings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG1P2RsgBbM Dual Zone Horizontal Sens: 70 Vertical sens: 65 Aim Assist Strength: 100 Aim Assist Window Size: 50 Aim Assist Ease In: 70 Aim Smoothing: 98 Aim Ease In: 30 Ana: I had Relative Aim Sensitivity While Zoomed at 60 and Friendly Aim Assist Strength 75. Ultimate was bound to L3 so I wouldn't have to let go of the right stick. Baptiste: Crouch is bound to L3, which is how Baptiste charges his exo boots. This allowed me to have it charged, while keep my aim with the right stick. Lucio: Jump is on L2 and secondary fire is on L3. Backwards wallriding is enabled Zenyatta: Reload is bound to L3 and sensitivity of harmony and discord orb on 70. At the end of the day, work with the sens and controls that work best for you. This is what works for me after hours of experimentation and trial and error and these settings may not necessarily work for you.
2 - Ranked Advice
If you want to go straight into support advice you can skip this section Need a Tough Mental: From when I first placed in plat on the new account to finally hitting GM, I would receive toxic messaged at every rank. Messages like "you're trash" "garbage healer" or my favorite, "I can't believe you're (insert rank here) you're dogshit." I even had a couple of instances playing Zen where my allied tank was shooting me, bodyblocking me, and overall just being a dick so I couldn't see the team fight. Here's the hard truth. There's not a lot you can do about toxic people. I know that scares a lot of you and I can see why. I'll tell you a little secret, people are toxic because that's a coping mechanism for them playing poorly so they deflect blame on someone else on the team. Don't let some random person in a video game diminish who you are as a player and as person. You aren't a shitty person so don't let dickheads on the internet try to put you down. Mute. Report. Go next. Prove the haters wrong! You'll most likely never meet them again anyways. Be Self-Critical and Open to Change: This will be the best advice I can give you that will improve your gameplay in the long-term. On my road to GM, I was constantly reevaluating my mistakes, so I could adjust them for future team fights and games. It's easy to fall into the trap of blaming teammates and attributing losses to them. While that may be the case, there's always something you can do to improve. For me, there are currently two things I am working on that I know I am weak at. Landing reliable sleep darts to defend myself and being more disciplined with my positioning. What are mistakes are you currently trying to work on? Now, don't be that type of person who is overthinking everything about every little mistake they made. That's a quick way to ruin your mental. On the other hand, don't be the type of person who thinks they are doing everything perfectly. There's a nice balance between being confident and being honest about your mistakes. If you find yourself unable to mentally remember your mistakes, write down those mistakes with solutions, then actively apply them in game. Ask for a friend or outside help to give you another perspective if you're having a hard time self-analyzing. Teammates are Going to do Dumbshit: ...and that's okay. I get it. As a support you get front row seats to the circus of ranked. From Reinhardts pinning into spawn, teammates wasting ultimates, Genji's spamming I need healing halfway across the map, I get it. There's a prayer that goes, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference." If that doesn't explain how I feel about ranked I don't know what does. You cannot force your teammates to make the right play 100% of the time no matter how loud you scream into your mic, you cannot control all of their actions, and so the best thing you can is to control your own actions. If you are consistently the best player in your lobby you will eventually climb. You don't have to be a god gamer but just slightly better than the players in the lobby. Stick to the fundamentals and abuse the mistakes on the enemy, because trust me, they make a lot of mistakes. Adjusting to the Speed of Play at Different SR: Once I got into the 3.8K range I would be thrown into varying SR lobbies. One game I will be in a 3.4K lobby with plats and the next I would be thrown into an almost full GM lobby. In lower ranked lobbies I could get away with weird flanks and poor positioning, which would not be punished as much. Then once I got into GM lobbies, those bad habits and poor positioning I built would be punished. You don't realize how bad your positioning is until you are being consistently smacked by an enemy Widow, Tracer, McCree, or Doomfist. I had to be disciplined with my positioning, even at the lower ranked games so that when the GM game came I would already be in that mindset. The fundamentals of the game don't change, but the time window to kill someone does. Play for the rank you want to be, not the rank you are in. Short Warm-up Routine: It's good to have a short 5-10 minute warm up routine before you start getting into a ranked session. For me, I use some workshop codes that are shown down below in the Outside Resources section and some deathmatch. This is a great way so that you're not throwing the first few games by missing easy shots. Even after the initial warm-up, it still takes a couple of games for your brain to warm-up to the decision making in game. It wasn't uncommon for me to lose the first few matches even after a good warm-up. Don't let a couple of losses discourage you from continuing your ranked session. Would also like to add that you shouldn't be spending hours on aim trainers and warming up. Aim is great, and is an important skill of Overwatch, but it isn't the only skill. Positioning, movement, cool down management, decision making, awareness, etc are all important aspects that aim trainers won't tech you. This is why a lot of advice for new players is to, "play more" because they just need to experience the complexities of the game. Don't be afraid to make mistakes in ranked as those are good learning opportunities for the next game.
3 - General Support Advice
Understand Your Role and Healing Priorities: The first step that everyone should do is look at their team comp and figure our what your primary job is. For example, if I'm playing Ana with a Rein, Zarya, Mercy, McCree, & Hanzo, I know that my Mercy will default to supporting the DPS, while I default to supporting the tanks. Of course, when situations arise where I need to help out the DPS or Mercy I will, but I already have an idea of what my priorities are going into a team fight. It's easier to adjust to bad situations when you already have an idea of what your default role is. If I feel that my Mercy is mismanaging her resources mid-game then I can always adjust to landing a couple more shots on my DPS when they need it. Ask yourself these 3 questions when it comes to understanding your priorities:
What is my job in this team comp?
What should I use my abilities and ultimate for?
Where should I position in terms of this team comp?
Don't overthink this and make it super simple. It can be as simple as I need to keep my frontline alive or peel for my other support. If you have any specific situations about healing priority, comment down below and I would be happy to answer them. Understand Who on the Enemy Team can Kill You: After 15 seconds into a match you will be able to see the enemy team comp. Get into the habit of checking the scoreboard in between team fights. Take your time to gather all in the information on the enemy. Before doing anything crazy. Most of time, the biggest threats will be the DPS and/or dive tanks. If you're consistently dying to tanks like Rein or Zarya then there is something extremely wrong with your positioning. Adjust you positioning and cool downs accordingly depending on the enemy DPS. I'll get more into depth in Part 2. Awareness. Awareness. Awareness.: This skill is the foundation of game sense and decision making in game. If you have poor awareness you will find yourself struggling executing the points I will be making throughout this post. These are the things you want to look out for to improve awareness:
Where your teammates are positioned: As a support, it's important to get the full view of the battlefield. Constantly remind yourself to be able to see all 5 of your teammates. If you can't see them on your screen then take a second to figure out where they are.
Where the enemy team is positioned: This is to reinforce my previous point of figuring out who on the enemy team might kill you. It's important to know where they might come from. Overwatch maps are designed with a middle land, a left lane, and a right lane. Sometimes the lanes have high ground, go through a tunnel, through a building or combination of those things. There can only be so many ways and enemy can approach you. Take the time to see if you can account for all 6 enemies. If one enemy is missing then they are doing something sneaky on a flank or right behind you.
Kill feed: I am constantly checking the kill feed almost every second. It's an important tool to check the status of the team fight. If my team loses 1 or 2 players very early on then I know to wait for the regroup if I'm on attack. If I'm on the defending side I know I need to make a big play to offset the player advantage from the enemy team. Then if my team loses 4 or more players then 99% of the time I know it's a lost team fight. Simple. Check the kill feed.
Abilities used: Being aware of cool downs helps tremendously. For example, knowing when Zarya uses her bubbles or when Dva's defense matrix is down is a great way to land anti nades as Ana. If you have a hard time visualizing and listening to abilities being used then I suggest watching your own replay code and just listen to the sound queues. You will be shocked on how much you miss.
Ultimates: Ult tracking is considered an advanced technique, but is still an important skill to learn. This is especially important for heroes like Zenyatta or Lucio who have ultimates that can mitigate big enemy ult combos. Start by ult tracking one player on the enemy team. Then eventually you'll be able to do 2, then the whole team, then you'll narrow it down to the ultimates that will play the biggest impact in the upcoming team fight. Bonus tip, if a player hasn't used an ultimate in over 2 team fights then they probably have it.
Value Your Life!: Don't make the mistake of following your teammate into the pits of hell. As a support, your team's success is tied to how long you can survive. The longer you survive the more resources your team will have. Don't go into a bad position or run in the open just to heal a person is missing 5 HP in the middle of a team fight. Supports should almost never be dying at the start of team fights. If you are consistently dying first as a support then you are positioning poorly or mismanaging your abilities. Prioritize your life! Protect Your Fellow Support: Supports. Please. Protect each other! As I mentioned before, the longevity of a support is tied with the success of the team. I know what you're thinking, "if the supports are healing each other then who is healing the frontline?" Let me put it this way, if the enemy team is pumping resources into trying to kill the backline then that means there is less damage going into the rest of your team. Multitasking: You might need to defend yourself for a few seconds, heal your teammate the next, quick scope a low HP enemy the next, all while rotating into a different position at the same time. As a support, you need to be proficient thinking ahead. This is why understanding your role is important before every match. Multitasking requires a mixture of awareness, good decision making, and mechanics. Without each of those components you will find yourself struggling to do multiple actions. Team fights are never static, they constantly evolve, which provide different situations for you to answer. So it's important to change priorities when needed. Remember, critical HP signs show when your teammate has half of their HP or less. So Genji who is at critical vs a Winston who is at critical may need to be healed first as they have a higher chance of dying. It's a case by case basis, but you need to be able to read situations before they happen to be able to get better at multitasking. Be a Threat and Playmaker: Once you've built a strong foundation of dying less, you then need to start becoming a playmaker and damage threat. Supports aren't pushovers and can pack a punch. I mean, Zen can 2 shot headshot and enemy squishy with discord. The reason why this is important is because if you become a threat then the enemy DPS have to respect you. They can't just walk over the backline. If you also become a damage threat then you open up advantages for the rest of your team. For example, as Zen I am putting pressure on the enemy Tracer, which forces her recall. This then allows my Tracer to win the Tracer battle because my Tracer has a distinct advantage. That then leads to an opening kill for the rest of my team to push. Forcing cool downs for free isn't something that will be shown in the stats, but it's an important aspect that will win team fights. Higher Healing Numbers are Overrated: What's the difference in the amount of healing a Mercy can output in GM vs Gold? Answer, 0. A Mercy will always pump out 55HPS no matter what rank. What makes a good support player is how they prioritize their healing in the right situations combined with how their kit impacts a team fight. Anybody can just dump heals on their friendly Reinhardt and get gold healing. News flash, that doesn't win you games. If a ton of healing leads to wins then you would see Moira in every top 500 lobby.
4 - Thought Process on Support Picks
Ana: Ana is a great versatile support pick as she can fit in a lot of team comps. Her long range healing enables high resource intensive tanks like Rein/Zarya but can also support dive tanks like Winston/Dva. These tanks are are also great nano boost targets under the right circumstances. Ana is decent at healing DPS, although it's not her primary focus. Her nano boost is a great pairing for ultimate combos with DPS like Genji, Pharah, and other high mobility heroes like Tracer and Genji. She is also decent at defending herself (if you're capable) with her sleep dart and biotic grenade. Pick Ana with tanks that require high resources, in situations where you need to defend yourself, combo nano boost, and to make high impact plays with anti nade. She is weakest in bunker comps as she doesn't have the "spam damage" compared to Zen and Baptiste. Baptiste: Baptiste is another great versatile support hero as a hybrid between Ana, Zen, and Moira, but with vertical mobility. He absolutely shines in deathball or bunker comps where he can get the most out of his AOE healing. When played in these situations he can build his ultimate after almost every team fight. He can also dish out a ton of damage and can be used to defend himself against flankers or as a 3rd DPS. His biggest weakness is playing in dive as he'll have a hard time healing his teammates. You'll end up using your abilities on yourself, and if you're not getting full advantage of immortality field then may not be worth it to play Baptiste. Pick Baptiste in static bunker or rush comps. Avoid playing him with dive as there are better options like Zen, Mercy, or Ana. Lucio: Lucio is a relatively weak pick at the moment as his biggest strengths, speed boost and dueling are outclassed by ranged poke damage. He can be played in really strong boop maps like Lijiang Tower or Ilios but be careful on tunnel visioning on boops. He is still decent at peeling for your fellow support but Brig is the number one option at dealing with flankers. Dueling potential as a 3rd DPS, while getting teammates into position with speed is the only way I have found success with Lucio. He pairs well with heroes like Rein, Reaper, Mei, etc who require to be in close range to be effective. Lucio is an average pick in the moment as the strength of range damage is more valuable than speed boost. However, he can work with rush comps, but engagement timings have to be decisive. If you end up being a healbot Lucio then consider playing Moira or Baptiste instead as they output more AOE healing than Lucio. Zenyatta: Zen is a glass cannon, but what he lacks in survivability, he makes up for in a shit ton of damage. I personally try to play Zen as much as possible, but he doesn't work well it tanks who require a lot of resources. If that happens then I would pick Ana, Moira, or Baptiste. If I do find that my tanks are feeding or playing too passively that it doesn't matter how much healing I pump into them then I will switch to Zen. His harmony orb works well with flankers like Genji, Tracer, and Echo who can utilize that 30HPS for being more aggressive. Zen works great in dive comps and bunker comps. He's still playable against 1 or 2 flankers (if you can land your shots) but if the enemy team is 3+ man diving you and you aren't getting any peel then I would consider switching off.
Summary
If I were to boil everything down to key points to improve on how I was able to climb as support it would be this
Know your role and priorities in a team comp.
Always think in the back of your head who on the enemy team might kill you.
Position yourself with cover and to see the entire picture of a team fight.
Don't waste abilities.
Finally, don't waste ultimates if a team fight is decisively won or lost.
Follow those 5 steps then apply that to any support hero and you should be able to climb with practice and actively learning. Hope this helps you guys. Remember, it takes time to actually apply knowledge in game. Sometimes you need to take one step back to move two steps forward. A lot of you guys are making constant mistakes so it's important to slow that down, build good habits slowly, so that over time you can make good decisions quickly. Comment down below if you have any specific questions about Overwatch or how I was able to climb and I would be happy to answer them. Here is the link the Part 2 where I go over specific support heroes.
There are many new people here, I do not want this to be a distraction. If you have EXTRA money and are already hodling GME, or cannot afford GME you should join the BLNK train. So let me preface this by saying BLNK will not be the next GME. There will probably not be another GME. For starters it's not going to have an army of kids who used to shop there 15 years ago hyping it, not to mention over 100% short interest and the fact that in the early days it wasn't even 1b dollar market cap.. But it can a squeeze of it's own for it's own reasons entirely and so I have spent time looking beyond just the stock price movements which is what initially led me to start the idea of a BLNK DD. I do want to point out some things I noticed while the big squeeze started happening.
A lot of companies with high short interest such as IRBT and BLNK, along with those more talked about companies such as AMC just started causing the shorts to cover all sorts of positions and move their money around. BLNK share price was up to about 65 dollars before falling down to 50 over the past 2 days. It has reached 55 dollars in the past so this wasn't even a squeeze it was just a few shorts deciding to cover their positions most likely because they were getting reamed elsewhere, or just a natural run up because people seem to really like BLNK stock. As a matter of fact, they like it so much that it is up 2400% from 1 year ago. And it's still got relatively small market cap though we aren't in the millions anymore.
If BLNK were to actually squeeze as hard as some of these other companies have been and somehow reach GME's current 20b dollar market cap it's share price would be $500 dollars. There are plenty of companies with 20 billion dollar market cap. If it just pulled an AMC and only jumped 200% in a day it would still be at 150 dollars. Of course if you believed GME squeezed already you're obviously mistaken yourself, but the sentence still applies that BLNK 10x would still leave it at only 20b market cap.
Is this realistic? Lets take a look at the ways in which BLNK is SETTING ITSELF UP to make money in the future, and I say that because as we go into details later you will realized they are currently not exactly succeeding financially, though when has that stopped a company from turning into a success in the past? We will also take a little bit of look at the short interest. Also, these are the kinds of companies who continue to gain more short interest as the price continues to rise. Okay so BLNK is not some new company who just started because of the EV hype, BLNK has been a public company since only 2018 but has been a private company since 2008. They had a different name, but merged and acquired a few companies or something, and somehow ended up with the name BLNK. Many companies fight for years to break out of the depths of nothingness into a sound business model. According to their CEO: They design, manufacture, maintain, own, and operate charging stations. Their main business goal is to be the owner and operator, so they can be the fuel of the future. They put their focus on areas where you have no other choice but to use public charging. BLNK revenue comes from a few different things:
Selling charging equipment: They sell to third parties Okay, this is not great, but when you add the fact that they are VERTICALLY INTEGRATED it really changes the narrative a bit. AAPL just decided to go vertically integrated by designing building their own chips for their products, when you design your product and control the supply chain you can make greater strides to improving your margins and expanding your business through natural growth.
Utilization: from people utilizing their charging stations, this is standard and easy to understand. They apparently pay about .12 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity and charge about .39 cents per kilowatt hour. These are pretty good margins and once more than 50% of the cars are the road become EVs this is going to grow exponentially. This will obviously take time but might not be as far away as people are trying to say either.
Network of charging stations:BLNK has it's own cloud based network which will collected recurring fees every month. It will also need to be managed, which is also recurring fees. This is also where shit gets interesting because they can use data integration of the network on top of utilization. Of course utilization is going to cost people money but what do we know about companies abilities to collect and sell data in the AGE OF DATA? We know that DATA is the next oil, that's something we do know, how long and how far will people go to learn your every move, where you charge your car, what stores you're nearby, for how long, etc. This data is will be worth money in time. (side note: PLTR LEAPS AFTER THE LOCKUP TARDS)
BLNK recently acquired BlueLA, an EV carsharing company. This was a big move for a little company with negative earnings and cash flow, the fact that they are acquiring things leads me to believe they are actively trying to expand, and beyond just chargers as well. They seem committed to take on the EV industry without being a car manufacturer.
BLNK inked a deal with Cushman and Wakefield, for those of you who do not know they are a global commercial real estate services firm.
International expansion. BLNK has a deal in Greece with Nissan to provide chargers to anyone who buys an electric Nissan. These people will get access to all of BLNK's network. Let me inform you simpletons who have never left your moms basement, in other countries they are taking the whole EV movement more serious than America has been for some time, with certain countries already having pledged to ban gas powered cars by certain dates. I know the USA is making strides too and not to mention we have Elon but even if penetration is slow here it will not be slow internationally.
BLNK announced on Dec. 15th it was signing an exclusive deal with Blessing Health System.
When BLNK signs these types of exclusive deals it often times has contracts for 5-15 years to be the sole provider of charging within the property, this includes charging of all types of equipment not only electric cars.
BLNK received a grant aimed at facilitating the deployment of 200 Blink Fast Level 2 - 19.2 kW charging stations across the mid-Atlantic region, including locations in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, DC. I smell more grants with incoming administration.
On 28th of July, BLNK and ENS entered an agreement to jointly develop high-power wireless and enhanced DC (direct current for you actual retards) fast charging (DCFC) systems with integrated battery storage for the transportation market. This shows they are looking ahead and willing to work with whoever they need to stay on top of the technology. The resulting DCFC charging solution with high power energy storage will purportedly feature a modular design, and a power output from 100-500 kW. Supposedly it is going to be “economically priced”. They are going to look like the concrete parking guard things we see all over the place and they will be able to wireless charge certain vehicles is the idea.
On the topic of DC chargers (non wireless). TSLA uses this same tech for it's superchargers. What else are DC chargers going to allow in the future? Bi directional charging! With bi-directional charging you can go Vehicle to Grid or Vehicle to Home . This means cars can one day be used to help balance energy needs by allowing EVs to charge during off peak hours and give back during peak hours. This is futuristic shit. Lots of stuff to be excited about. If you are confused and don't care about the future, all you need to know today is that direct current chargers have the converter in the charger itself, so they are bigger and faster at charging cars than the AC converters which have to have an onboard converter which converts AC into DC to feed the battery. It is also going to lead to people to wanting and needing more advanced charging solutions in their home rather than using the "well I can just charge over night" logic with a slow level 1 charger. Having the charger do the conversion is the way of the future. This is the way.
VERTICAL INTEGRATION. Did I fucking mention they are a vertically integrated charging company? This is huge. This needs reiteration. This means they design their own product plus build their own infrastructure out, not to mention provide own their own network, technicians, everything. It is very ambitious and nobody knows how far BLNK can take their business yet, but what we do know is that EVs are the future and it is still only the beginning of the EV revolution. Advantages of Vertical Integration include lower costs, faster getting products to consumers, less supply disruption or them raising the price on the company, less transportation costs and reduced delivery turnaround times, improved sales and profitability. I really think this is big to the companies growth trajectory yet it is not widely available information about the company.
Some Other Points to Consider
Supposedly BLNK has the only 80 amp level 2 charging station currently on the market. Why does this matter to the small brained? That means it's faster than other chargers you say? Sure, that could be technically true, if that's what it was used for. Then why does it matter? Because BLNK chargers have load-sharing capabilities. The BLNK IQ 200 has the ability to load-share between 2 and 20 units from a single 100 amp feed. This is going to be a game changer for apartments, hospitals, any MUD's, honestly any commercial space that has access to a hundred amp feed. They will be able to service many cars with that single feed. But it gets better, the IQ 200 can intelligently share power, and even queue up cars that are plugged in but not charging, so that they can charge once other cars finish charging. BLNK envisions higher output being necessary to facilitate larger companies electric fleets, which we can now see happening in the EV space with trucks and couriers looking to go electric.
BLNK's pricing scheme seems to be superior to that of Chargepoint. For those of you who do not know Chargepoint is another EV charging company, who was recently acquired by SBE and they are voting in February to finalize everything I believe. With Chargepoint they just sell the chargers to apartments and such and let them determine the pricing. They only manage the network. This means if you have to fill your battery up you have to constantly double check prices to see if you are getting reamed from one of their chargers vs another one. On BLNK's network they will charge the same price everywhere. This is a huge plus in my eyes. I am a little unclear which policy would be in effect for chargers that BLNK does not have on it's network, because as I've said it does sell equipment as well.
BLNK has mobile chargers with the same power as their IQ 200 but in a mobile factor in case you run out of fuel on the road.
BLNK does not give a shit to what kind of car you drive, it wasn't to fuel all electric vehicles of the future.
Fleets are coming, BLNK seems ready for this.
BLNK can have partnerships with and target the following sectors which we already see some starting to play out: Parking & Services, Commercial & Residential, Workplace, Healthcare, Education, Retail, Hospitality/Food & Beverage, Entertainment, Governmental.
Consumer stores that add EV charging stations tend to see costumers staying in their stores longer according to data which I have not seen. This reiterates the point about being able to collect money from data.
So you may or may not know that in the USA TSLA still owns about 80% market share of EVs. We also know this will not last forever as every car company and their mother's boyfriend on top of car companies we've never even heard of are all on the EV bandwagon right now. This is going to make a lot of cars that need charging stations and it will be impossible for any one company to win this battle we can safely assume there will be 2-4 major players.
Low estimates are expecting the amount of charging stations in America to jump from between a quarter and a half million now, depending on if you are counting Gen 1, to low estimates stating there will be between 13 and 14 million charging stations over the next 7 or 8 years.
The Possible Concerns that keep getting thrown around
BLNK seems to be issuing more public shares from time to time (yes, dilution) but we know that when a company is trying to raise capital to expand this is a common strategy, and I don't really think is something to be worried about as long as you believe EV's are really going to be the future. I do.
BLNK's owner and CEO Michael D Farkas sold shares last month, to the tune of 22 million dollars worth. This always makes companies look bad but many people who own and operate a business would scrape some off the top to support their family in case things don't go according to plan, not everyone is an Elon (and Elon was still set before TSLA lets be real), doesn't mean he is necessarily up to no good. Not to mention if shorts were attacking you with even shorter shorts every day would it not worry you a bit that they win? This is an ongoing battle for small companies that don't get along with Wall Street. Plus, he still has 6.7 million shares, he only sold about 540,000 for 22 million dollars. This is a drop in the bucket and the man should not be faulted for this, my opinion is that it is no warning sign.
This might end up being a competitive space that could lower margins and cause financial hardships for the company. This is an actual concern. It could also take a lot longer than people are expecting to achieve meaningful penetration fully electric cars. I do think BLNK being poised to expand internationally will help them offset some of this.
EV is just a bubble blah blah blah blah okay then don't buy any EV stocks, you might be right but you're also a little bitch.
BACK TO SHORT SHORTS So if the last data I see on yahoo says that that the float is around 27 or 28 million. This is what's not held by insiders, who are unlikely to sell right now due to the fact that everyone knows we are collectively fucking over people who traditionally fuck them over. If a few weeks ago there was 8.8 million shares shorted and the average daily trading volume as of last week close was 14,263,640. This would make it a modest .61 days to cover. While it's no GME, I do believe this is a pretty large short ratio. Especially when you consider how small the public float is. I do believe this situation will be amplified the further BLNK moves away from it's "valuation." Also with what we've seen this week these people are willing to double down on things because apparently maybe they are just as retarded as we are. So BLNK's short interest is increasing at a rate of about 20% per every 20 dollars the stock rises. This is only a simple estimate based off of quick calculations but you can see that Dec. 15 the stock price was 28 dollars and amount of shares shorted was 6.18 million. On Jan 15th the share price was $47 and the total amount of shares sold short were 8.8 million. That's about 23%. As of right now it's still less than a day to cover but that does not mean we can't see things get frothy from this point on. Most people think BLNK's chance of success sit somewhere around the 0-3% mark I'd estimate based on the general sentiment not only here on WSB but also anywhere else on the internet you look. The consensus seems to be to stay away from it. Months back some shady research company probably wrote a hit piece on BLNK causing it's share price to tank nearly 50%, it had no real substance, none of the claims were found to have any evidence of being true and it is being investigated by the SEC and such, This same company ran an inaccurate hit piece on CLSK some time ago. Culper Research is the name if you'd like to look it up and read the hit piece. BLNK managed to defeat the shorts that time but will they again? Did I mention who else hates BLNK charging? SHITRON himself. Here's a quote from the shitman himself back in November: Shitron said, "BLNK’s valuation makes no sense" and called the company a “total scheme.” Left said it is “insulting” to call BLNK an EV stock. “New most ridiculous EV stock is $BLNK. No $$ for R&D, management accused of securities fraud, no real revenues,” Shitron tweeted. This goes without saying but every word that comes out of that mans mouth is horse shit. You know this. At this point, literally the whole world knows this. It's not even a question of does he write things based off of any evidence, we all know he would only say negative things that are to cause companies to go down because he has a position shorting them. Does he still have a position? Who knows, but we can safely assume at least at one point he did. I try not to use theFword but here goes a bit of simpleFundamentalsfor you tards: Current market cap: 1.85b Don't need to remind you guys this is still tiny and can still go through some explosive growth at a market cap this small in todays world with the amount of retail investors that throw their money at the most retarded shit you could ever possibly think of, for reference look at NKLA. Pretty sure NKLA reached a 20b dollar market cap at one point. BLNK has negative earnings per share, and although their revenue is increasing a good amount from quarter to quarter and beating expectations they only earned about 2.26 million last quarter. Last quarter GAAP EPS: -.12 Operating Income: -3.50 M Profit margin: -285.81% Return on Equity: -97.33% This tells you how well they are spending their money. Yes those are negatives. Impressive, to say the least. As a matter of fact just about everything you read about this company screams "SHORT ME!" Think about how many rich powerful scumbags are trying to run this company into the ground. Are they right? Or is EV charging just the future that has not come yet!? What I take from this is that they are spending every dollar they have trying to make it. This is all or nothing for this company. Final Thoughts Can we think of any other companies with negative earnings per share that still ended up being great success stories? It's almost like that hasn't been the blueprint for the past 10 years now.. Will it work? Only time will tell. But it definitely will not if these short sellers have their way with it. Also for reference just look at QS's 16b dollar market cap and they don't even have a product. BLNK at least has products that are currently going out into the world to be used. Of course the real move could just be puts on QS, but I stay out of bear territory especially during bull feeding frenzies. My outlook is that Billions are just the Millions of some years ago, especially when we're printing Trillions out of thin air (Obligatory shout out to the printer man himself JPOW). Just remember that we live in a brave new world where kids with phone apps can invest in what they believe the future is going to look like. Lastly, this is a stock no one has restricted trading to yet, allowing people to buy more than 2-3 shares could seriously cause BLNK to quadruple in value. We've seen how fast small market cap companies can jump when millions of autists all buy shares at the same time. Strength in numbers. The revolution of the retail investor has only begun my friends. Remember I'm just a retard not a financial advisor so this is not advice or anything but I'll let my positions speak for themselves: GME 500 c jan 29 (RIP I TRIED TO IGNITE THE INFINITE GAMMA SQUEEZE GUYS, I DID MY PART AND BOUGHT THAT SHIT ON THURSDAY, GUESSING IF 500C WENT IN THE MONEY IT WAS GOING TO IGNITE A DOMINO EFFECT, I TRIED AND FAILED BUT I LOVE YOU ALL, BUYING MORE SHARES ON MONDAY) GME shares PLTR 30c May 2021 BB 14c Jan 2023 BLNK 14c Jan 2022 TLDR: BLNK is the only vertically integrated EV charging company, BLNK has international presence, BLNK shares are up 2400% in the past year. It will take .61 days to cover and this number DEFINITELY rising, very small amount of float available, Shitron hates BLNK, so do all other short sellers, make no mistake they have put the hit out on BLNK and would love to see it run into the ground, BLNK is small enough to still rocketship pretty hard, GME to the moon.
Not much information about this company, so I started writing my own research on the company. Here is the investor presentation: https://nexters.com/images/inv_info/Nexters_Investor_Presentation.pdf If want to understand the valuation of the company, the risk/reward, and the potential I need to answer the following questions:
What is Nexters Global?
SPAC is a safe bet?
Comparison with its competitors?
$1.9B is cheap or expensive?
Let's begin!
1. What is Nexters Global?
Nexters Global is a fast-growing mobile game development company with $450 million gross revenue* (2020), 85 million total game installs, 5.4 Million monthly active users, with 10x growth of revenue in the last 2 years. Already profitable with $110 million net profit in 2020. The management has more than 10 years of experience in creating games. Located in Cyprus (Europe) with roots in Russia (a very strong IT region). They are well known for being in Game Development since early 2005 in the epicenter of the web, social and mobile game development. https://preview.redd.it/juhbhhuwhmg61.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=529a0e927aa3bc3205430d97204d3d625f36fc8d Since the launch, the company has proven that it can develop, publish and use marketing to scale its games. With 37% of its revenue coming from the US/Canada, 23% from Europe, 19% from Asia it is already an international company. \In the investor presentation Nexters Global states 310 million net revenue, as at the* sec.govreports it is more common (example) to use thegross revenuefor gaming companies as their base metrics. That's why here and below I’m usinggross revenue. Please see the spreadsheet below with a comparison to other companies. Further plans are: https://preview.redd.it/t9kdphd0img61.png?width=994&format=png&auto=webp&s=b70e92455e253033e99a91b17b0a1f85012e1e5b
To increase the revenue of existing games (basically, double the revenue in 3 years).
Launch new titles in 2021: 3 new games announced
Working on the sequel of their best selling game "Hero Wars 2".
Use cash to acquire other game developers with great games to amplify revenues using their expertise and marketing/production capabilities to make global hits.
2. SPAC is a safe bet?
There are so many SPACs, that we should be very selective on what we choose to buy. To do that we need to check if the business is real. There are different kind of risky SPAC’s on the market:
Without product
Without revenue
Without an addressable market
Without proof that they can scale
We need to verify that Nexters Global is not on that list. Let’s have a look at the company: The product? Web, Social, Mobile Games. To check if their numbers are real simply open the game page in App Store and Google Play store. Android Apps by NEXTERS GLOBAL LTD on Google Play Nexters Global LTD Apps on the App Store The top game has more than 50,000,000 installs with more than a million positive reviews and an average rating of 4.6. With other games/stores combined, it correlates with the company's stated 85 million installs. https://preview.redd.it/jwh51gm2img61.png?width=735&format=png&auto=webp&s=428ec2dc85a4a6c1d51c67aa8fa1f7876edd3dab I like that I can see the numbers myself, and also can "touch" the product and how it works. it increases my confidence in owning the stock. Actually, I have been playing their top-grossing game Hero Wars for several months last year. And I loved it... loved it so much that I’ve spent around ~1000 dollars within 3 months. And I’ve seen players that spent much much more than me (higher ranked, had much more power and ranks). And there were so many players that they had to add new servers each week, or even daily. The first impression is that I really like the product. I see how it works. The revenue. It's huge. In the SPAC world, there are companies that can’t make revenue but predict that their revenue will go up 10-20-50x times in 3-5 years. Usually, such companies are SCAM as they mislead investors with revenue that will never happen. On another side, Nexters Global has already $450 million in revenue with a $110M profit. And the growth rate is +177% YoY. And even the slowdown in growth means the actual increase in revenue substantially, just by the magic of the compound growth. I like the numbers very much here. The addressable market How big is the addressable market? The World’s 2.7 Billion Gamers Spent$175 Billion on Games in 2020; The Market Will Surpass $200 Billion by 2023. So Nexters Global is well-positioned in expanding market. https://preview.redd.it/tf41au04img61.png?width=888&format=png&auto=webp&s=7547a1d3c2c8da43554a655d9b32bb4aaf4f2d97 Revenue geography shows that it is also diversified well. The company has proven that it can generate revenue all around the world, not just in its local market. That is very important in order to calculate the valuation of the company. https://preview.redd.it/sxq08qg5img61.png?width=362&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed9b771d632268efb31d96d57c831d61d8caf12f But how long Nexters can generate revenue? Unlike the traditional PC gaming, where the peak of sales occurs after the launch of the game and then shrinks a lot, in the online mobile game market - games get updates each month/quarter to engage customers and make them stay in the game longer. Games with great engagement + marketing resources can stay on top charts for many years. You just reinvest part of your revenue into marketing to earn even more. It works for games with high revenue per player (ARPPU). Nexters Presentation: $106 - Average net bookings per paying user(2) (Q4’20) https://preview.redd.it/jsqcmby6img61.png?width=666&format=png&auto=webp&s=f96f6ef490ee2b16cf6ca01e8508df578bfdd302 Percentage of paying users increases. Average net booking increases. With the 6% of paying users and $106 net payment - it is quite easy to calculate that you earn $6.36 from any user that downloads the app, so you can spend on advertisement a lot of money and you will earn even more. When you have 277% revenue growth in 2019, 177% in 2020 it won’t just stop growing. Next year double-digit growth of revenue is highly probable. From a statistical behavior the growth slowdown to zero is very unlikely. If we take examples of other super-hit games from Supercell (Clash of Clans) and Playrix (Gardenscapes). Example: Playrix did continue to grow since 2016 explosive revenue withadding +41% YoY growth in 2018 +35% in 2019. https://preview.redd.it/so9ijp08img61.png?width=667&format=png&auto=webp&s=6f6acbdf41374f89c045bb07c4b4e5f7dc235bf9 Another example: Supercell's revenue continued to grow at least 2 years after the revenue explosion before slowing down. https://preview.redd.it/tjjuf159img61.png?width=855&format=png&auto=webp&s=01116616d83bbeeb34bbe98da012d22c3964f5d5 The growth Great games could continue to grow. Nexters Global estimates their net revenue to reach $562 million dollars. That equals to ~$802 million gross revenue in 2023. And the company is valued at just 1.9B now. Re-think that.📷 This chart also shows that they project only +10.5% YoY growth in revenue in its current games after this year's gain. Which I think is too conservative considering the examples above. I understand that they’ve chosen the strategy not to mislead investors and should stay conservative, but I think they will easily beat their own estimates and 20-25% growth is much more realistic. The good thing is that we can track their performance in terms of downloads and revenue in stores. We can stay ahead and know the data earlier than official numbers come out, which brings another level of transparency for investors.
Kismet Acquisition One Corp company
The company is led by CEO and Director Ivan Tavrin, the founder and Principal of investment firm Kismet Capital Group. Tavrin previously served as the CEO of PJSC MegaFon, Russia's second largest telecommunications operator, and before that, he founded UTH Russia, one of the largest independent media broadcasting groups in Russia. Kismet Acquisition Two plans to target the internet and technology sectors operating in Europe, including Russia, as well as businesses established by founders with Russian origins. Credit Suisse, BofA Securities and LionTree Advisors served as financial and capital markets advisors to Kismet Acquisition One Corp. Advisors look good to me. The CEO's background and experience too. Additionally, he was one of the shareholders in the recently launched Russian IPO "OZON" marketplace. Which is now +120% up. The only thing that sounds scary here is the word “Russia” everywhere. Is there an unwanted geopolitical risk? From the legal point of view, every entity is registered under British Law jurisdictions (Cyprus, BVI). So, basically, there shouldn't be any problems. Well... they would better be in the US as many investors don’t like foreign companies. But there are great examples of super successful Supercell and Rovio that were NON-US too. And we know that the Russian Tech-sector is high qualified (Google Founder - Sergey Brin, Pavel Durov - Telegram, Vitalik Buterin - Etherium, and even Russian Hackers is a “meme”). And as I said before their business looks crystal clear, anybody can check their metrics so they can’t fraud the data, unlike, for example, Luckin Coffee did in China. Therefore, this kind of risk is eliminated.
3. Comparison with its competitors?
Let's talk about numbers. I’ve tried to compare the game developer to its direct competitors. I've selected only companies with major mobile game-driven revenue. Here is the full spreadsheet access: Nexters Global Comparison I’ve marked the concerning metric with yellow and red, Good metric with green, Superb one with dark-green color. https://preview.redd.it/tmsosbtaimg61.png?width=1079&format=png&auto=webp&s=2b50cd7a1a54115bb496849c43b3611094fc6309 Please take time to read the numbers and come back after. Update! With the latest news that Electronic Arts buys GLU Mobile with +39% premium from the market - the sector is officially undervalued. Thoughts on Nexters Global
Nexters is big enough in terms of revenue
The MAU (Monthly Average Users) is not very big. While you can consider that as a “minus” that's actually the sign of a young company, with the opportunity to attract more users “cheaper” (with high efficiency). When you already big and you have hundreds of million players, you have to spend more and more money on user acquisition.
No diversification. That’s a red flag. Hearing of 3 titles coming next year + Hero Wars 2 to be developed. And the idea of acquisition of small developers with excellent games to amplify their revenue 10-100 times promoting it around the World is the Next goal for Nexters. This will bring diversification.
Remember that Supercell (also a European company, HQ in Finland) with its only best selling game was sold to Tencent at a $10.5 billion valuation. This "Hero Wars" game is currently following its path (in terms of growth numbers & revenue).
Games are high gross margin projects. I assume this gross margin from the cost of revenue is: AppStore/Google Play 30% commission + spending on maintaining the Servers. That brings me to the industry average of 65%
Marketing spending numbers are rational (20-40% zone), in order to stay profitable and to maintain modest growth.
It's already a large scalable company. No “company growth issues” seen through this data. Sign of good management here.
Unusually high net income seeing here. Assumption: Research & Development costs /Administrative spending / Sales and Marketing is much lower compared to other US companies. Probably they benefit from HQ being outside of the US. That should affect the company multiplicators (P/E) positive.
With not very high US Market penetration - the opportunity still there.
Game reviews/rating is essential in mobile games: The higher-rated games = the cheaper is the cost of user acquisition. The longer players stay in-game. The “4.5” rating tells me that customers of this company are very satisfied.
Fascinating growth. Very young company. The slowdown in growth is expected but compound growth is still very probable.
Estimated Compound Annual Growth (CAGR) is 25%. Which would bring the company ~$802 million revenue in 2023.
Is the company valued right? It's more profitable in comparison to its competitors, its double-triple digit growth company with all signs of the trend to continue.
The company is honest with its estimates and setting very realistic numbers. Other SPACs prefer to predict 10,20,50x revenue in the future even without proving they can scale. This company is doubling-tripling every year and shows estimates of 25% annual growth each year.
I ended up with numbers: P/S = 4.19, P/E = 17.27. This valuation seems just right with current earnings and the sector, but not with the future growth. As there is a Hot trend in gaming and with outstanding YoY growth could be worth much much more.
4. $1.9B is cheap or expensive?
The current price of $KSMT (“GDEV”) is $10.15 which represents a $1.9B valuation. Before the deal is completed the price cannot be valued less than $10 due to SPAC rules. So there is simply no downside risk at this point.. But can it go up? What is fair valuation? Is there a risk of a selloff from shareholders? How rich the valuation can be in terms of P/E (Price to Sales ratio)? First, let's find out the risk of insider selling: Here is the sec report: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgadata/1814824/000121390021005589/ea134294ex99-1_kismet.htm The Transaction is expected to deliver up to $150 million in cash to the Company’s balance sheet before advisor fees and/or redemptions by Kismet Acquisition One Corp. current shareholders, with proceeds expected to be used for general working capital purposes and potential acquisitions. Existing shareholders of Nexters will receive a cash payment of up to $150 million pro-rata to their pre-money shareholdings, and will roll approximately 92% of their holdings into the combined company while agreeing to a 12 month lock-up (subject to certain exceptions). In addition, the founders and the management will receive 20.0 million Earn-Out shares over 3 years (with 50% of the Earn-Out released at $13.50 VWAP and 50% released at $17.00 VWAP), also subject to a 12 month lock-up. The Transaction will be funded by approximately $250 million held in trust by Kismet Acquisition One Corp., subject to any redemptions, as well as the additional $50 million investment by the SPAC Sponsor, Kismet Capital Group, via an affiliate. The investors will have a 12-month lock-up on selling + they get benefits on reaching the valuation 35% and 70% higher from the current price. This means that there will be no insider selling in the near term, which is very positive signal. Acquisitions Nexters Global plans to use proceeds in M&A (buying small game development studios with great projects that just don’t have enough cash, expertise, or right developer team) to benefit from its situation in order to launch great games worldwide. https://preview.redd.it/xhypgzqfimg61.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=642c03fecbb851984527c46774beb0ecc44eba0a It is a common mistake to assume that great games can be run by small studios or individuals, as in 2020 you need at least a couple of million dollars spent on marketing to understand if the project is worth it, or not. Small developers can’t afford it. On the other side, Nexters can benefit from it really well. If they are successful in that, we could see 10+ new titles in the future. That could diversify its game portfolio, making this company a safe bet for Hedge funds and other market players, driving future growth. “Hero Wars 2” game announcement. Hero Wars is the top-grossing game, which generates most of the revenue. With “Hero Wars 2” announcement the company can benefit a lot.. Usually, game sequels can do very well, as they are easier to promote, finding their “fan base” from the beginning. This could create a new source of income, work as a diversification, launch the new cycle of the revenue stream for many years ahead. Partnership with Playrix founders Here is another thing that I want to focus on: Bukhman brothers acquired a 43% stake in Nexters in 2018 They are founders of “Playrix” - a private mobile game developer company, currently valued at $7B(valued in Q1 2020). Now more likely ~11B as their revenue increased 1.5 times during 2020. Please read these articles in Bloomberg and Forbes first:
Summary from the articles: Cashing out (selling out to Tencent or Activision Blizzard) is not interesting right now. We are growing every year. Game industry multiplicators of public companies were priced wrong . This year has changed it. And this trend will continue as top games can grow for many many years, reengaging users with updates. Playrix is not interested in IPO's at this valuation. They want to wait until the market changes and start pricing gaming companies at different valuations, not the 4-5 year revenues, but maybe more like Tech companies are valued now (P/S 20-30 instead of 4-5)? I can assume that Playrix founders are interested in the long-term success of Nexters Global SPAC-merger in order to change how markets price the gaming companies as they want to bring Playrix to an IPO in the future. They want to wait until the market starts pricing gaming companies at different valuations, not the 4-5 year revenues, but maybe more like Tech companies are valued now (P/S 20-30 instead of 4-5)? So, for the Bukhman brothers who own 43% shares, Nexters Global is a long-term play company. They don’t want/need to cash out. I also think that at some point, Tencent could just buy 20-30% of the company through the open market (buying shares). Why? Because it is common for Tencent to buy a stake in gaming companies that earn a lot of cash and priced at these valuations. https://preview.redd.it/uphpbubcimg61.png?width=804&format=png&auto=webp&s=4f35889049fa9302786bf65d1b83f02a92d71eef
Summary
In my personal opinion, this is a great company with a bright future. Valuation seems reasonable and there is a big upside if any of those happens:
Company starts to actively search for acquisition targets (we will see from press-releases)
Company launches "Hero Wars 2" title
The company beats its own low guidance estimates (which I think the most probable)
Company launches more titles which enter “Top ranks” in AppStore/Google Play store.
Aggressive Tencent/Other major Gaming Holdings buying.
At this exact moment, the fair valuation of the company will move to $3-4 billion dollar. (+100% upside). At this right moment of the time as the price is near $10 there is literally no risk in a pre-merger state, as SPAC can’t go below $10 price by its concept. Disclosure: At the moment of writing this article I do have a position in $KSMT, that is not more than 10% of my entire portfolio. I do not plan to sell at any nearest time in future. Stocks are risk assets and this is not investment advice.
That Time when a Corporate Slave Reincarnated into Hololive and Gained 1 Million Subscribers (Houshou Marine’s Journey)
That time when a corporate slave reincarnated into Hololive and gained 1 Million subscribers (Houshou Marine’s Journey) Note: *this is translated and modified from まーがり’s wonderfully detailed article on Note (https://note.com/margari/n/n65434823e284) I do not take credits for anything here. I also left out a lot of the graphs, if you like those, go visit the original. Also, I used quite a lot of MTL. If there’s anything you would like to add, please comment and I will consider it! Senchou is the best, the cutest in the world! This will be a collection of clips with short descriptions from the original author with some additional information added in by me. I tried my best to find the English clips for each of these, but older clips are very hard to find...mostly due to the shut down of a certain translation group that shall not be named. Characteristics of Houshou Marine Hololive Vtubers are required to have some background lore and RP, and Marine’s generation is called “Hololive Fantasy’ and is created with the concept of “characters from a fantasy world” in mind. It is said that the 3rd gen members are older on average compared to 1st and 2nd gen, especially with Flare, Marine, and Noel who are known as the Oneesan-gumi. (Big Sisters Gang) Marine is short with large hips and bust, a so-called shortstack. Self-proclaimed 17 years old(?), but from various stories and unintentional leaks, is probably around 27-29. Compared to other members who are cute and young, she fits more of a sexy role. Compared to the rest of the 1 million club (this was made before Haato reached 1 million) she is noticeably not a cute type, but rather a HORNY type, the first of the type in fact to reach 1 million. She is probably a former streamer, given her ability to entertain and engage live audiences. Her amazing talking skills will keep you glued to the screen no matter if she’s doing a chatting stream or just playing games. According to her, she learned to be interesting all the time from her time growing up in the Houshou household, which ignores all boring talk. She also knows a lot about NND (Nico Nico Douga) culture and all the memes from there. She is also a serious Touhou fan since high school to the point that she can correctly name all characters just by their face (no hair) alone. Self-confessed former (?) Fujoshi. Marine’s Survival Strategy When a Vtuber debuts, they have to struggle in a place of fierce competition for survival. The same applies for corporate vtubers. Way back in August of 2019, the general view of Hololive was that it’s a company carried by Sora, Fubuki, and Aqua who were working very hard, but still a small company reliant on Nijisanji. (in 2018 and 2019, NijiHolo collaborations were very frequent) How did Houshou Marine debut into such a market so dominated by Nijisanji and other companies and survived? Let’s take a look at her story. Pre-Debut But first, let’s talk about her background before debuting. The information here is gathered from her chatting streams and SC reading sections.
About her family
The two family members she talks about the most are her dad and older sister. Their characteristics are roughly this. Dad: No delicacy (rough kind of person), has a lot of willpower, sends a LINE message to her every day, lacks internet literacy. Older Sister: Even more shy than Aqua, emotionally sensitive, once cried due to a Freshness Burger dropping on the floor, has no friends so she named Marine as her friend when she was asked to answer who’s her BFF in KumaTomo (DS game) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvGZq9P3Rd0←--The clip) Very popular among ichimis. (Marine’s fans) Both know that she is vtubing, but don't seem to be watching her too much. (TL note: The only time I remember her talking about her family watching a stream was her older sister watching the 78 years old stream) Apparently couldn’t watch the Toyosu live at the beginning of 2020 due to an OS update. https://youtu.be/QTgVkE2p2OE?t=3070--- Bad with technology sister and dad https://youtu.be/bYONz5srmw8?t=1140---- That time mom played games on Hangame for hours on end (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangame)
Childhood: Elementary School
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHQjqOO-b5o--- when very little, too poor to eat roll cakes and really hungry so ate a streets fighter manual instead, tastes like paper. (TL note: In a recent stream, she has commented that her old house had serious bug issues, and by serious I mean serious, she was not well-off)
Highschool
Allegedly graduated from high school at the age of 2 and Harvard at the age of 3. (real) Attended a Christian all-girls high school and said that she had a crush on a girl, but was rejected after trying to hold hands with her with the words “sorry, but I don’t swing that way” https://youtu.be/_3KWTYJSX-Q------ Kaitou Xi’s translation of the events Her love for Touhou apparently was influenced a great deal by her, and they parted on good terms as friends.
Corporate Slave era
It is widely known that she was working for a so-called “black company” in customer service. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_company_(Japanese_term)) ) https://youtu.be/gyPs1bXDSCA?t=668←------ that time she was given rotten oranges for winter bonus https://youtu.be/8utdHWh2qsA?t=3220←----- the final straw that led to her quitting her old job, CEO forcing employees to dedicate everything they have to the company It’s a truly appalling story, but without this, we will probably never see her vtubing, so thank you old boss (?) Not everyone was terrible however, one example was her female section chief who taught her the ropes in the workplace. This concludes her story pre-debut, after this will all be about her activities while working as a vtuber affiliated with Hololive with her debut on August 11th, 2019. Early Activities (August - December 2019) As mentioned above, Hololive of August 2019 was not a truly independent Vtuber company yet with many collaborations aiming outside instead of inside the company. Her debut stream clocked in around 7506 viewers, numbers astronomically low when you see the kind of numbers 5th Gen got for their debut streams. That was how popular Hololive was, known but still second-rate. -Active in external collaborations
Directly after her debut, she took on a role as a leader of the 3rd gen members and started actively collaborating both inside and outside of Hololive. In one month following her debut, she has already collabed with Choco-sensei, Nijisanji’s Takamiya Rion, Animare’s Inaba Haneru. She later collabed with Honeystrap’s Saionji Mary, Nijisanji’s Hayase Sou, and also participated in Ryushen’s (Nijisanji) Pokemon Spoof from Hell using her ties with Hayase.
She also collabed with vtubers mamas like Shigure Ui (Subaru) and Kagura Nana (Ayame) and illustrator-vtubers like Inuyama Tamaki and Natori Sana as well.
Why was she so popular as a collab partner? Namely, her strong personality, distinctive “Ahoy”, voice imitation skills, being unafraid to collaborate, a voice that projects well, her ability to get things done, and her openness to off-color jokes. She and the other 3rd gens also was the first generation to work together as a generation like we would expect nowadays from Hololive, doing collaborations pretty much from the get-go.
She also provided illustrations for other vtubers as well, such as the illustration for this cover song from Ryushen and Hibiki Ao
My personal favorite is this one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mi8kFgiWiU A drawing contest held by her, Satori, and Ui-mama. Highly recommended, don’t even need to know Japanese to get your SAN drained.)
Her channel was monetized in late August, a very fast pace at the time. She conveyed thoughts such as “I will finally be able to eat meat…!” and “Pokemon merch…” in response to the news. However, tragedy will soon come to befall her monetization 6 months later... The Time of Growth (January-March 2020) The debut of the 3rd gen played a large part in popularizing Hololive as a whole. It can be said that they are the start of the Unstoppable Hololive we see today. (Hololive 3rd Gen was and still is the most popular HololiveJP generation as a whole) She gained 100k subs in 4 months, and the momentum just doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. She became the most subscribed 3rd gen member in the latter half of March. It can be said that this period was the time when ichimis realized their love for Marine and started supporting her seriously like you would a real idol. Marine of that era was still not at the top, still below the Four Heavenly Kings, (Kizuna Ai, Mirai Akari, Kaguya Luna, Siro) the popular Nijisanji vtubers, and the more popular Hololive members at the time. The ARK pandemic that was unleashed by Coco contributed a great deal to her growth, with Marine being so addicted to the game that Coco named her as one of the members of the original “ARK addicts'' in an episode of Asacoco. This period sees a remarkable increase in solo streams to collab ratio.
She participated in the Toyosu live in January 2020 and sang “Lost my Music” from Haruhi. (video not available)
Her 3D debut stream led to the creation of the now-famous “Houshou Marine Pose” that is now a staple for any 3D stream by other members.
As a side note, she is quite active in the usage of her 3D model, doing a total of 13 projects with it.
Tried to move out of her old, shabby house. Found a place in January but had many problems while trying to move in. She already moved out of her old place, but another tenant already occupied the new place, so she had to find a new house in a hurry. Just as things were looking up with her moving finished, tragedy struck on March 13th, 2020 when she was deprived of her monetization. It seemed that she has a problem with getting yellow demonetization even before the 13th. She regained her monetization on the 27th of the same month, but she had to spend a lot of money during that time due to moving in and having to record a voice pack, so it was quite tough for her.
Active in internal collaborations. She became very active in Hololive collaborations starting from this period. Some of the notable ones are…
VR horror collab (not 3D, the first one) at Coco’s place. (archive is still privated)
The Second Vtuber Boom (April-June 2020) With a state of emergency being declared and lockdown in progress, demand for streaming vtubers reaches heights never thought of before. Numbers rose dramatically during this period in terms of subscribers. Is it perhaps the second coming of the 2017 Vtuber boom? She was overtaken by Pekora in subscribers around the time Pekora was doing MGS marathon.
Participated in the 2nd Hololive Kindergarten stream as one of the kindergarteners. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJltE4KGGLA ←---- Yumemi Translations’ translated clip)
Addicted to Animal Crossing like everyone else was when it first came out.
Received a letter from her high school crush with a drawing of her avatar and the words “400k subscribers congratulations! As expected of you. I will keep supporting you! Let’s go eat at Jojoen together next time.” She also visited Marine’s Animal Crossing island and kept sending ugly villagers over to her’s.
Started playing Azur Lane, leading to the infamous peak horny clips. Interesting tidbit, she was convinced to play the game after seeing Sirius’ rather...generous assets during a sponsored stream where Yostar had her, Ui-mama, and Tamaki review the character designs.
Art showcase from elementary school to present. Some interesting things learned from that stream were that she started learning digital art during her late elementary school years and even drew a CG set with her OC in middle school! She also cringed...like a lot at her old OCs. (https://youtu.be/WSDkNw2c4A8 <--the stream)
Played Dream Club GOGO with Nijisanji’s red-haired alchemist Ange Katrina. The contrast between the sultry onee-san Marine and the scaredy-cat virgin Anju was something marvelous to watch. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otq4c4BVss0 ←--the stream)
Worked with the one, the only, BEATMARIO (Touhin doujin music legend, created popular songs such as Night of Nights and Help Me ERINNNNN) to release the doujin CD “Gensokyou Holoism” with songs composed by Beatmario and his circle, and IOSYS (another legendary doujin circle, made Cirno’s Perfect Math Class and Marisa Stole the Precious Thing) help with writing the lyrics and script with illustrations by Ito Life. (personal opinion, I really, really like the drama parts as a long-time Touhou fan. It’s not that expensive, give it a buy if you are into this kind of thing) (https://www.dlsite.com/eng/work/=/product_id/RE295773.html ←----buy here, comes with English and Korean subtitles)
Started doing an online radio show program with Fubuki (podcast pretty much) with a new episode releasing every wednesday at noon. Some notable guests include Sugita Tomokazu (famous seiyuu) and Tanaka Kohei (legendary composer, composed songs like “Sono Chi no Sadame” and “We Are”) You can listen to this week’s episode at https://hibiki-radio.jp/description/skdw/detail You can listen to old episodes here ---- https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JoW6GX6QBWkiccU5TmLfETicK8iq0K4a?usp=sharing (Credits to the Sucorn FBK fanclub discord)
Have to say, she was popping off big time during the era. First Year Anniversary and Birthday (July-September 2020) She was working very hard in July to the point she cried while eating the cake during her birthday stream at the end of the long, hellish grind...everyone...please give her headpats.
Released her first original song, “Ahoy! We are the Houshou Pirates!” for her birthday. Interestingly, the song was arranged by IOSYS’ ARM with lyrics written by IOSYS’ Maron. (https://youtu.be/e7VK3pne8N4 ---- the short version of the song on her channel)
For her 1 years of activity stream, did a 3D collab stream with Noel and Flare and exercised (?) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTFO2H7zu0A ---- Toki’s translated clip of the first minutes of the stream)
Joined up with other Hololive members to form the group “ALICE” (SORA FLARE MARINE CANATA SUISEI) for a cover song, don’t ask me why it's Canata, Sora made it. (https://youtu.be/Ur0K2WA67jw ---- The cover song)
Sang “MOON PRIDE” with Asano Ruri, Inui Toko (Nijisanji), Higuchi Kaede (Nijisanji) and Fubuki. (https://youtu.be/axZ9LYMvrPo -----the cover song)
MariKoro Body Swap 3D, it’s as cursed as you would think. Korosan doing the idol step was truly a forbidden sight (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TklqX5XUomo -----the stream
The legendary 4 hours worth of oversleeping and the infamous “incident” that happened during the sleepover with Shion. To this day, Marine still feels a bit awkward about the whole thing, and wishes to fully work things out between her and Shion. The hashtag
#ババ共の寝起き (grannies wake up) was on first place trending on Japanese twitter. Fubuki vs Marine, OC battle. My personal favorite is Matsue-kun who she made in high (middle?) school, whose descriptions are as follows.
CURSED WITH EXTREME MAGIC POWER, HIS BODY STOPPED GROWING AT THE AGE OF 12. CURSED EXISTENCE. HIS BIRTHPLACE WAS DESTROYED DUE TO HIS POWER RAMPAGING, AND BEING HATED HE KNEW NO LOVE. HIS ULTIMATE ABILITY IS COOL. (https://youtu.be/f6tYhNzIQwg ←-- the stream)
Appointed as an official brand ambassador for the mobile game “Sakura Kakumei” belonging to the Sakura Wars franchise, a game series she has loved ever since elementary school. She cried on stream afterwards from the happiness of having achieved her childhood dreams. Even better news, she and Fubuki are confirmed to be voicing characters in the game eventually! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8BW6dKjmFc ---- the stream where she cried from happiness)
Cover of the Touhou doujin song “The Song of a Broken/Loved Youkai Who Loved a Human” arranged by myu314 and with vocals from Beatmario. This is not well-known, but this upload was actually tied to a self-cover from him. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbfVsscUMaU ---Marine’s cover) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G_c2FqeG60&t - Beatmario’s self-cover)
BL pairing battles from Hell with Hayase Sou (Nijisanji) over who is the top and who is the bottom in each pairing. Cursed af. (...former fujoshi?) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkZunpwcxGk ---- the stream)
Her return to HoloServer Minecraft and the construction of AQUAMARINEGO pirate ship. This is also the start of the current form of the AquaMarine pairing.

End of 2020 and the start of 2021(October-January 2020) Her sub count exploded over this period with over 100k per month and more. Remarkably, she started uploading short videos which might have attracted the Kaigai Niki crowd. One interesting observation is that from this period on, the behaviors of ichimis start changing from a group that is closer to that of Pekora’s to one that is closer to Rushia or even Coco, we are now fully in love with her. In one of her member-only streams, she talked about getting a KU100 mic for ASMR and the chat was filled to the brim with 100 dollar donations. In the last stream of the year, ridiculous amounts of money were sent to her in an attempt to get her to marry us. I have to admit, I do miss when chat used to spam “cringe” in response to her acting cute, but this is not bad at all.
She got her new goth loli costume! She thought it was going to be cringe, but at this point ichimis will gladly watch her do anything. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBJyteOyAh8 ---akarineko’s short translated clip from the stream)
The legendary 78 years old stream, you really need to watch it. I thought it was going to be funny but I honestly cried during the latter half. Watch, now (圧) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9ftpQHPwGI Vtuber for ALL’s translated clip of the stream)
The CURSED sleep-deprived chatting stream where she talks about her rather interesting past deeds. Just as a disclaimer, I do not endorse her past actions, but I think she has changed, and that we shouldn’t judge someone for something they have moved past. (https://youtu.be/YM3OGGvvZww ---CONTENT WARNING: includes descriptions of actions that could be interpreted as grooming, and other generally disgusting topics, translated clip by Shabbysubz)
Joined AKUKIN Constructions as an HR manager and together with Mio helped Aqua recruit workers for the company. There was a rather big incident with a certain brat, but let’s not talk about that (kusa) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SSXIuRupaM -- the incident, translated clip by Hololive Posting)

Participated in the Hololive Autumn Athletic Meet in Minecraft, I honestly would just recommend you to just watch the whole stream, but if you don’t have the time there are many clips of the event on Youtube. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqZLOYeStrs -Japanese clip of all the moments Marine got to shine, my favorite part is when she couldn’t bring herself to calm down before the relay run, with her hands shaking and her voice quivering due to a trauma about it she got in school)
Participated in the first day of the 2ND LIVE with her singing “Ahoy! We are the Houshou Pirates!”
Got 3rd place in the Hololive Mario Kart tournament. She was coached by Nijisanji’s Rindou Mikoto, an amazing Mario Kart player and a big fan of Marine. (https://youtu.be/e980A-F9kqc -- clip of her roasting everyone after getting 3rd place)

Made a mod for Rimworld to have the colonists look like Hololive Members and built a colony with many stories. I will link to u/unreasonabletakes9301’s summaries for people interested.

MariFure (Marine X Flare) adult friends who understand each other very well, has an air of infidelity to it, making it super spicy
PekoMari (Pekora x Marine) Marine is Pekora’s number 1 fan, always watches her and cares for her very much. Pekora is reluctant to open up her heart but is noticeably more open to her than most people.
AquaMarine (Aqua x Marine) Aqua is the daughter and Marine is the mom. Marine acts very doting towards her and will RP as an annoying mom every time they are together. Super cute.
ShioMari (Shion x Marine) One-night stand (?) that went wrong. Still a bit awkward with each other but still are great friends.
Promising new pairings
MariLamy (Marine x Lamy) Pissed off and annoyed Lamy doing Tsukkomi is the greatest thing ever
